Dr Whymark is an expert witness in pain-management and anaesthesia. She has completed over 500 medicolegal reports in personal injury, causation, liability, and condition and prognosis. Dr Whymark is trained on giving evidence in court. As well as her ongoing NHS commitment and medicolegal work, she delivers education and training to undergraduate and postgraduate doctors, allied professionals, and lay audiences.
Dr Whymark studied medicine as an undergraduate at the University of Glasgow, graduating MB ChB in 1995. She undertook basic specialist training in anaesthesia in Norwich and higher specialist training in Sheffield. She returned to Glasgow in 2001 to complete her training, before taking up a post as a consultant in pain medicine and anaesthesia at University Hospital Crosshouse, Ayrshire, in 2004. She holds fellowships by examination of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, London (FRCA), and the faculty of pain management (FFPMRCA), as well as a diploma in legal medicine awarded by the Royal College of Physicians, faculty of forensic medicine.
